Casino RAY have released details of the First Annual Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament. This new competition, the format of which was agreed upon at the European Gaming Forum in Malta, will see players competing for a $20,000 first prize. The best national team will also be awarded an additional $10,500. Qualifying rounds have started, or are about to take place, in Poland, the Olympic Casino in Estonia and at Casino RAY in Helsinki. The finals will be held on the 18th November.
The Rank Group, who operate Grosvenor Casinos and own the Hard Rock Cafes, are planning on bringing the name and theme to Manchester by transferring one their existing three licenses. Rank announced recently that the sales of film and holiday subsidiaries were to concentrate on restaurants and gaming. The new location, The Printworks, is an £150 million leisure and entertainment development. Stanley Leisure also owns and operates the two other casinos in the city.
The Bucharest Business News details the opening of the impressive looking Paris Casino at the Bucuresti Hotel. The 20 table opertion being financed by Israeli businessman Avshalom Zuman. The casino will be competing with the Partouche Casino in the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel that opened in 1999. Despite these new openings, high rates of taxation is cited as to why the number of casinos in the Romanian capital has declined to 7 from 17 in 1996.
