The Museum of Gaming History

The Museum of Gaming History is growing and we need your support. The MoGH came to life in 2014 with the showing of exhibits at the El Cortez Hotel and the Mob Museum. We are working on showing several new exhibits in the coming year. The MoGH needs your support to fund these projects. We seek to grow the hobby by expanding interest in Gaming History. 1941 - Las Vegas, NV. Western Casino opens at 124 Fremont Street, downtown Las Vegas.

July 20th

2020 - Monday

1981 - Atlantic City, NJ. The Claridge Hotel is a historic hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that opened in 1930. Beginning in 1981, Claridge's operated for many years as a casino, known first as "Del Webb's Claridge Hotel and Casino", then the "Claridge Hotel and Casino". The hotel was acquired by Bally's on December 30, 2002, as a hotel tower of Bally's Atlantic City. In February 2014, the property was acquired by TJM Properties of Clearwater, Florida, who returned the property to a stand-alone hotel without casino gambling.

2020 - Tuesday

1977 - Reno, NV. Gold Dust West Casino opens at 444 North Vine Street, Reno. .

1984 - Las Vegas, NV. Sarno later on grew frustrated because his dream of building the "Grandissimo" seemed impossible, and he was never able to overcome his gambling addiction. Sarno died of a heart attack on July 21, 1984, at the age of 62, at the Caesars Palace, a hotel he formerly owned, while on a gambling stay at the hotel. Sarno was elected to the Gaming Hall of Fame in 1989.

2015 - San Juan, Puerto Rico. In operation since the late 1980's, the Hilton Corp. closed the iconic Condado Plaza casino.
