1980 - Atlantic City NJ. The Sands Casino Hotel (Originally the Brighton Hotel/ Casino) was a casino and hotel that opened on August 13, 1980, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was formerly known as the Brighton Hotel & Casino. It consisted of a 21-story hotel tower with 532 rooms and a 5-story podium housing the 57,045 ft (17,387 m) casino and various other amenities. It was adjacent to the Claridges Hotel casino in Atlantic City. its parking garage was adjacent to the Madison Hotel. |

1959 - Las Vegas Nevada. The property began as the $2 million, 180-room Flamingo Capri motel, owned by George E. Goldberg and Bill Capri. The motel was built directly north of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, where Capri was an employee. The motel began construction in May 1959, with a planned completion date of August 15, 1959. Douglas Honnold and John Rex, both of Beverly Hills, California, were the architects. Maurice N. Aroff of Beverly Hills was the general contractor.[4] The Flamingo Capri opened in 1959. The original Flamingo agreed to provide hotel services to guests at the Capri. |
