It has 703 rooms and suites and contains 94,840 sq ft casino, recording studio, Michelin-starred restaurant, and 2,500-seat concert theater. The Fantasy Tower is also home to several nightlife venues including Moon Nightclub and The View. The tower holds what are known as the Sky Villas and Fantasy Suites, which are some of the most expensive hotel suites in the world. The two-story Sky Villa on the top floor billed at US$40,000 per night, is listed at number 5 on the World's 15 Most Expensive Hotel Suites compiled by CNN Go in March 2012. |

| 2001 - Las Vegas, NV. Clifford Jones died in the Life Care Center of Las Vegas after a lengthy illness. He was 89. A two-term lieutenant governor from 1947 to 1954, Jones became known as "Big Juice" for having the clout and connections to get deals made. Jones was granted a 2 percent interest in the Pioneer Club in exchange for helping the club obtain its lease and gaming license. He parlayed that interest into a stake in the El Cortez -- the beginning of a gaming career that took him round the world and led him to have interests in the Algiers, Dunes, El Cortez, Golden Nugget, Pioneer, Thunderbird and Westerner casinos. |

| 2004 - Las Vegas, NV. The closure of the Desert Inn in 2000 and subsequent demolition was unpopular with many as it seemed to mark the end of old Las Vegas. Historian Michael Green stated: "To a lot of people outside of Las Vegas, these two places (the Desert Inn and the Sands) really meant Las Vegas. These were the places that represent the images of Las Vegas, in a far greater way than the Dunes, the Aladdin, the Hacienda and the Landmark". Robert Maheu, Howard Hughes's publicist for many years, remarked that the "Desert Inn was the gem of Las Vegas". The hotel remained popular with locals until the end, as the heavily tourism-driven modern Las Vegas emerged in the 1990s.Desert Inn Road, an east-west Las Vegas Valley roadway, still exists. It is the only major east-west surface street on the Strip that does not connect to Las Vegas Boulevard. |

Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino is an Asian-themed boutique hotel and locals casino located on 2.5 acres (1.0 ha) of land at 300 West Sahara Avenue, near the Las Vegas Strip, in Las Vegas, Nevada.The Lucky Dragon is adjacent to the Allure Las Vegas high-rise condominium, opened in 2008 by developer Andrew Fonfa. The resort's property was initially planned as the site of a second Allure tower, which was canceled due to poor economic conditions. While selling units in the first tower, Fonfa decided to build a hotel and casino on the adjacent site. The Lucky Dragon was announced in February 2012, and groundbreaking began in May 2015. The resort had a soft opening on November 19, 2016. An official grand opening was held on December 3, 2016.

| 1904 - Pilot Grove Texas. Lester Ben "Benny" Binion was an American gambling icon and mob boss.In Las Vegas, Binion became a partner of the Las Vegas Club casino, but left after a year because of disagreements about limits on bets. In 1951, Benny purchased the building which had previously housed the Las Vegas Club, and opened it as the Westerner Gambling House and Saloon.In 1951, he purchased the Eldorado Club and the Apache Hotel, opening them as Binion's Horseshoe casino, which immediately became popular because of the high limits on bets. He initially set a craps table limit of $500, ten times higher than the limit at his competitors of the time. Because of the competition, Binion sometimes received death threats, although eventually casinos raised their limits to keep up with him. Additionally, the Horseshoe would honor a bet of any size as long as it was the first one made.Binion was in the vanguard of Las Vegas casino innovation, being the first in the downtown Glitter Gulch to replace sawdust-covered floors with carpeting,. |

Club Cal Neva originally opened on April 2, 1962] as a club held by the gaming magnates of the time. It has avoided closure by changing hands and expanding into the sports betting industry. Its sportsbook was one of the most profitable in the state and racked in millions per year via satellite participants. In April 2011 William Hill PLC purchased Cal Neva's race and sportsbook division for a whopping 39 million. The Club Cal Neva is by no means a large casino but has expanded over the years. |

| 1998 - Eliazbeth Indiana. Horseshoe Southern Indiana which locals often simply called "The Boat," is a riverboat casino operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Opened in 1998, it is located outside the community of Elizabeth, Indiana, across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. The complex is located at the Harrison County line. This is the closest legal gambling location to Louisville and the large Southern Indiana cities because casino gambling is not allowed in neighboring Floyd County.The complex includes the four-deck riverboat (known as The Glory of Rome), which houses the gaming area; it is the largest riverboat in the United States and the world's largest riverboat casino. Other amenities include a hotel, a pavilion, 7 restaurants and a showroom, two parking decks, and a golf course. Steelman Partners designed the riverboat, podium, and hotel. |

The tragedy remains the worst disaster in Nevada history, and the second-worst hotel fire in modern U.S. history, after the 1946 Winecoff Hotel fire that killed 119 people. |
