1955 - Reno, NV.   Doll House opened at 2250 South Virginia St, Reno.

1955 - Las Vegas, NV.   The property started as a nightclub called Pair-O-Dice that opened in 1930, then The Ambassador Night Club in 1936 and was renamed the 91 Club in 1939 for its location on US-91. It was subsequently rebuilt and renamed the "Hotel Last Frontier" in 1942. On April 4, 1955, it was renamed the New Frontier, following a modernization of the resort. The resort had the distinction of hosting Elvis Presley's first Vegas appearance in 1956, and the final performance of Diana Ross and The Supremes on January 14, 1970.

1957 - Las Vegas, NV.   Tropicana Las Vegas is a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Penn National Gaming. It offers 1,467 rooms and a 50,000-square-foot gaming floor. Tropicana Las Vegas also has 100,000 sq ft of convention and exhibit space.This location, Tropicana – Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, has the most hotel rooms of any intersection in the world and is extremely busy. Pedestrians are not allowed to cross at street level. Instead, the Tropicana is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to its neighboring casinos: to the north across Tropicana Avenue, the MGM Grand Las Vegas, and to the west across the Strip, the Excalibur.

1976 - In flight.   Hughes was reported to have died on April 5, 1976, at 1:27 p.m. on board an aircraft owned by Robert Graf and piloted by Jeff Abrams. He was en route from his penthouse at the Acapulco Fairmont Princess Hotel in Mexico to the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Other accounts indicate that he died in the flight from Freeport, Grand Bahama, to Houston.After receiving a call, his senior counsel, Frank P. Morse, ordered his staff to get his body on a plane and return him to the United States. It was common that foreign countries would hold a corpse as ransom so that an estate could not be settled. Morse ordered the pilots to announce Hughes' death once they entered U.S. airspace. .

2024 - Terre Haute, Indiana.   Grand Opening.

1931 - Reno, NV.   Henry Club received one of the first gaming licenses in Reno. It opened at 133 Lake Street with one 21 game, poker and a craps game. A keno game and slots were added later. The club closed in 1932.

1931 - Reno, NV.   The Wine House was licensed for a full casino. It was located at 16-18 East Commercial Row, with another entrance on Douglas Alley. It offered a bar and restaurant, as well as gambling. Eventually the restaurant operations took priority over the gambling. In 1961 the property was sold to Harolds Club.

2006 - Northwood, Iowa.   Diamond Jo riverboat casino opens.

2021 - Wednesday

1931 - Reno, NV.   From the 1920's until 1957 Lawton's Hot Springs Resort was operated by the Mark Yori family, and became known for its large swimming pool, park area and mineral baths. In 1931 Felix Turillas and John Etchebarren leased the property from the Yori family and obtained a gaming license for slots, craps, roulette and 21...the first of several gaming facilities to operate on the property. In 1936 & 1937 Gene Rovetti operated Club Lawton on the property. In 1938 there were eight greyhound races each night. From 1942-1943 The River House Club was open. In May of 1944 Bob Neeman's Reno Rancho opened, only to close in July. Gaming was sporadic on the property, and under several different operators. In October of 1957, Mark Yori sold the property, which would eventually become the Holiday Lodge. .
Laughton's Hot Springs was mis-spelled "Lawton's" on their first signs. The signs were not changed, so both spellings were used.

2021 - Thursday

1939 - Las Vegas, NV.   Mission Club, 2nd & Fremont opens, downtown Las Vegas.

1947 - Las Vegas, NV.   Club Bingo open as the forth casino on highway 91, which is now called the Las Vegas strip, on July 24, 1947. The Sahara Hotel would be built later on the same location in 1952. .

1996 - Robinsonville, MS.   Harrah's Mardi Gras opens.

2021 - Friday

1951 - Las Vegas, NV.   Louigi's Broiler opens at 3729 Las Vegas Blvd. S. .

1963 - Reno, NV.   Poor Pete's Casino opened at 275 North Virginia Street, owned by Peter Perinati. Perinati died less than a year later, and the casino closed in October of 1964. In 1965 it reopened as the Whistle Stop.

1968 - Palm Beach, Aruba.   Aruba Sheraton opens, closes in 1980. Becomes the Hart Sheraton casino.

2021 - Saturday

1945 - Reno, NV.   The Sagehen Club, at 1099 South Virginia Street, was a locals bar that had a gaming license for 21, for less than a year.
