2018 - Sunday

1949 - San Juan, Puerto Rico.   Caribe Hilton Grand Opening, first legal casino in Puerto Rico. Hilton Hotels International [HI], built its first hotel outside of the continental US in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The new Caribe Hilton was meant to improve the island's economy through the encouragement of new enterprise. Constructed at the cost of $5,500,000, the luxurious 300-room Caribe Hilton hotel and resort operation had "the latest in comforts and convenience for the traveler, and the newest ideas in modern, efficient operation for the hotel management. The hotel opened with a great deal of international publicity on December 9, 1949. In fact, the hotel's unique new design led to the publication of a twelve-page article in the February 1950 Hotel Monthly magazine, complete with floor plans. The hotel became a financial success within the first six months and recovered the Puerto Rican government's investment of nearly $9 million in less than three years.

1953 - Reno, NV.   The Li'l Red Barn opened at 4250 South Virginia Street, as a restaurant and bar with gambling. The gambling ended in 1956, but the bar and restaurant continued to operate until 1958. In 1958 it became the Liberty Belle.

1980 - Atlantic City NJ.   The Golden Nugget Atlantic City was built, owned and operated by Golden Nugget Companies before selling it to Bally's Entertainment Corporation, which changed the name to Bally's Grand Casino/Hotel. The sale was prompted by founder Steve Wynn's frustration with gaming regulators in New Jersey. After the Hilton Hotels Corporation acquired Bally Entertainment, the property was renamed Atlantic City Hilton. In 1998, Hilton Corporation spun off its casino properties into a new company initially called Park Place Entertainment and later renamed Caesars Entertainment. In 2005, Harrah's Entertainment merged with Caesars Entertainment and sold the property to Colony Capital, LLC.

2015 - D’Iberville, Mississippi.   The resort has 300 hotel rooms, 68,000 square feet of gaming space, and amenities including a 36-hole miniature golf course, a buffet, and three other restaurants. The project originally named the Can- Can Casino Resort and Spa, gained site approval from the Mississippi Gaming Commission in February 2010, but development stalled because of the Great Recession. Revised plans for the casino, by now known as the Scarlet Pearl, were approved by the commission in December 2013. Groundbreaking was held in July 2014. The property opened on December 9, 2015, at a cost of $290 million. .

1941 - Reno, NV.   The Sphynx opened at 1410 East Fourth Street, former site of the Silver Slipper. The club closed in December of 1942; the building was destroyed by fire on January 1, 1943.

1980 - Atlantic City NJ.   Atlantic Club Hotel & Casino opened in 1980 as Golden Nugget than sold to Bally's called Bally's Grand. Later called The Grand before selling to Hilton. Then in late 2011 Hilton stripped the name from them so they operated as ACH for a few months... On March 13th 2012 the officially opened as Atlantic Club Hotel & Casino. Closed January 13th 2014.

1993 - Biloxi, MS.   Lady Luck Casino opens.

1995 - Robbinsville MS.   Horseshoe Casino Tunica is a casino resort located in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. It was developed by Jack Binion, the son of Las Vegas gaming legend Benny Binion, and named after his father's famous Binion's Horseshoe downtown gambling hall. Much like its namesake, the Horseshoe Tunica is known for catering to serious gamblers, particularly table games players, and is known for its liberal, player-favorable rules and its comp policies.

1952 - Las Vegas Nevada.   The Sands Hotel and Casino was a historic hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, United States, that operated from 1952 to 1996. Designed by the architect Wayne McAllister, with a prominent 56-foot (17 m) high sign, the Sands was the seventh resort to open on the Strip. During its heyday, the Sands was the center of entertainment and "cool" on the Strip, and hosted many famous entertainers of the day, most notably the Rat Pack. .

2007 - La Romana, Dominican Republic.   Casino Dominicus opens, closes 2 years later.

2010 - Las Vegas Nevada .   (commonly referred to simply as The Cosmopolitan or The Cosmo) is a luxury resort casino and hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The resort opened on December 15, 2010, and is located just south of the Bellagio on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard, and consists of two high rise towers. The $3.9 billion project features 2,995 rooms, a 110,000 sq ft casino, 300,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space, a 40,000 sq ft (3,700 spa and fitness facility, a 1,800 seat theater, and 150,000 sq ft (14,000 m2) of meeting/convention space. In 2013, the hotel was rated "The Best Hotel in the World" by Gogobot. In 2015, the resort was named to the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List as one of the "Top Hotels in the World". .
