| 1954 - Reno, NV. Jim Kelly's Nugget opened at 233 North Virginia Street, former site of the Piccadilly Club. One of the first employees at the Nugget was John Ascuaga, who later went on to open his own Nugget casino, in Sparks. Kelly advertised the "awful awful" sandwich, which was a huge hamburger with lots of fixin's...it was "awful big and awful good"! Kelly believed that if he could get people to come in and eat or drink, they would stay to gamble...a philosophy that paid off for him. Jim Kelly sold the Nugget in 1990 . |

It is located on 90 acres at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway (about 8.5 mi south of Mandalay Bay), near the affluent neighborhood of Southern Highlands. The hotel includes a 92,000-square-foot casino and a 390 room boutique hotel. The hotel tower is 118.17 feet (36.02 m) tall.M Resort has received a four-star rating from the Forbes Travel Guide every year since its opening, deeming the property "One of the Finest Hotels in the World". |
