The Museum of Gaming History is growing and we need your support. The MoGH came to life in 2014 with the showing of exhibits at the El Cortez Hotel and the Mob Museum. We are working on showing several new exhibits in the coming year. The MoGH needs your support to fund these projects. We seek to grow the hobby by expanding interest in Gaming History. 1942 - New Haven Connecticut.   Stephen Alan "Steve" Wynn ( January 27, 1942) is an American business magnate known for his involvement in the luxury casino and hotel industry. Early in his career he oversaw the construction and operation of several historically notable Las Vegas and Atlantic City hotels, including the Golden Nugget, the Golden Nugget Atlantic City, The Mirage, Treasure Island, the Bellagio, and Beau Rivage in Mississippi, and he played a pivotal role in the resurgence and expansion of the Las Vegas Strip in the 1990s. In 2000, Wynn sold his company Mirage Resorts to MGM Grand, resulting in the formation of MGM Mirage. Wynn afterward took his company Wynn Resorts public in an initial public offering, and he remains Wynn Resorts' CEO and Chairman of the Board. In 2018, Wynn was accused by dozens of people of sexual misconduct; he denies the allegations. Wynn stepped down as CEO of Wynn Resorts on February 6, 2018, because of these allegations. 2000 - Reno, NV.   Despite being listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a "Most Endangered Site", the National Historic Trust would not offer any help to the City of Reno in their preservation efforts. The City brought in many groups and engineers to make an attempt to save the building, even asking Art space Projects, Inc to do an analysis of the building. This company eventually refurbished the Riverside Hotel across the street from the Mapes. Every engineering report came to the conclusion that the Mapes was actually poorly constructed and there was no hope in restoring the building. In light of all the evidence and in the face of much local protest, the City of Reno demolished the Mapes on January 30, 2000.Nothing was done with the lot until the winter of 2001, when an ice rink was put in at the site. The ice rink was set up at the site each winter until 2004, when a park was temporarily put on the lot. Currently, the former Mapes site has been made into a permanent outdoor skating rink.
